Colo. Doctor Offers LASER Treatment For Hair Loss

August 7, 2007

A Colorado doctor is the first in the state to offer a new FDA approved LASER treatment for the tens of millions of men and woman who have hereditary hair loss.

Dr. James Harris said patients go through the treatment for 30 minutes, 44 times over a year. The idea is to use low level LASER light that will stimulate follicles and increase hair growth.

“One of the studies showed that 60 percent of the people grow 20 hairs per centimeter more,” Harris said. “To translate that, that’s almost 100 hairs in a square inch.”

The course of treatment costs about $4,000.

Harris recommends using other treatments along with it. He said there are no known side effects except a little tingling.

Harris added the LASER treatment is non-invasive.

The best candidates are people who still have hair, not people who are already slick bald. It can work for both men and women.

Harris can be contacted at the Hair Sciences Center of Colorado
